About Discern Risk
Discern Risk, a proprietary firm established in January 2008 specializes in providing risk consulting services.
Discern Risk offers a comprehensive range of services to enhance and maintain a company’s risk management and control environment, including internal audit, risk management services and fraud risk management related services. We have been adding value through increased effectiveness of controls and cost savings to companies, by way of projects on internal audit, fraud risk assessments & data analytics.
It is the firm’s objective to help strengthen each client’s control environment and help them discern potential risks and uncertainties that they could be exposed to and, assist in finding innovative solutions to manage uncertainties. To support achievement of a company’s long term objectives we help companies manage strategic, operational, financial, compliance and technology related risks. In light of the sudden transference to a virtual working environment, we help companies in building and providing assurance on digital resilience through review of IT general and application controls.
The organization structure of Discern Risk comprises of Priti Dani (Proprietor) supported by senior managers/managers and a team of professionals.
Our Team
Currently, we have a pool of 20 resources which is a mix of
Chartered Accountants, CMA, CISA, MBA and semi qualified resources.
Priti Dani - Proprietor
Priti Dani has over 27 years' experience in providing risk advisory services. She is a Chartered Accountant by qualification.
After spending close to 13 years with prestigious firms like PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG and Mahajan & Aibara, in 2005, Priti joined a start-up organisation, Axis Risk Consulting (part of the Ambit RSM group), and was a Partner in the organisation.
The work done at Mahajan & Aibara included internal audits and special consulting projects. In her 2+ year stint at Axis and stints at PwC and KPMG, among other responsibilities, she was responsible for developing business and managing and executing Risk Management projects and Fraud Risk Assessment and investigation projects. She was also involved in the development of the Risk Management Methodology and Framework at PwC, KPMG and Axis.
Having serviced 40+ clients across various industries, in January 2008, Priti set up a firm - Discern Risk, which specializes in providing Risk Management, Fraud Risk Management and Internal Audit services.
Priti has been a part of the faculty on the ERM course held by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, has facilitated intensive workshops on Internal Financial Controls (IFC) for the Bombay Chartered Accountants Society, and has also been involved in facilitating workshops on Risk Management and Fraud Risk Management for companies and institutions.
Laxmi Mahesh - Senior Manager
Laxmi is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor having over 15 years of professional experience.
Laxmi started her career in 2000 with BSEL and then moved on to be a part of the internal audit teams at Bombay Dyeing and Tata Chemicals Limited. The work done by Laxmi included internal audits, information security audits, trainings and compliance reviews.
Laxmi joined Discern Risk in 2013 and is responsible for managing projects on internal audit and IFC.
